A map clamp connects to your cars map sensor and changes the output
voltage. The cars PCM(computer)
reads the boost levels through your map sensor. By changing the
voltage output you are fooling your PCM to think that it is running
less boost levels than it really is. The advantage to fooling the
PCM is that you can pull fuel and lean out your car since every
stage for the SRT will run rich.
Installation
should only take around 30 minutes. It involves running the wires
and soldering only 3 wires on the map sensor wire harness which
is also 3 wires. You do not cut any wires. What you will need to
do is strip a spot on the 3 wires going to the map sensor and solder
the wires from the map clamp to them as it shows in the directions
that are sent with them.
A
map clamp must be tuned with a wideband, dyno or anything that
allows you to read an accurate AFR. There is no presetting a map
clamp, there are many different mods out there and if you have
any that increase the airflow your car will be at a different
AFR than stock.
